Nicole Dewees

Hello, my name is Nicole Dewees I am a participant and graduate of Hope’s Crossing. The first question that I want to answer is what I most look forward to in my future. The answer to this question may seem easy for some, but for me, it is not something that I simply stumbled upon. For me walking into my future has had many, many setbacks, but

I can say today that I can actually see promise ahead for my future. You may then ask yourself what that means, so I will tell you. You see there was a point in time in my life where I felt that all hope was lost. My journey began at the age of 19 when I came to the realization that my life was at a standstill and has progressed to where I am today at 37. So now being able to look forward and set goals in my life help me see promise for me and my son’s future. I can actually set my sights on a goal, a dream and know that have the potential to see it through if I just apply myself…..me.

That aspect is really exciting for me. I have a short term and a long term goal. My short term goal is to get out of debt completely, my long-term goal is to obtain a degree and have a career. I’m thinking in early childhood education possibly working with parents of special needs children who are struggling to get the proper help to get that child’s needs addressed or therapeutic foster care.

I envision myself spreading my message of hope through ministry and speaking out any chance I get. I know my story has a purpose even if it is just through being open and sharing my story with whoever listens. The lessons that I have learned I feel will help me moving forward pursuing being a healthy and whole person when coupled with my own spiritual beliefs being a Christian woman. I will take the empowerment that I gained through this experience to pursue being the best me I can be and apply the principals in my life in all aspects.

The last point I want to cover is the answer to the question what role do I plan to play in the community of hope. I would love to continue to be a part of Hope’s Crossing to share my experiences with those going through maybe similar experiences with mine and eventually maybe even teach some classes. Also, do everything I can to support this organization because I see what an asset it is to the community at large.

Maybe even go into the prisons, homeless shelters, and domestic violence shelters to talk about the program that Hope’s Crossing has to offer, also talk to my family and friends about the benefits of Hope’s Crossing as well. I am extremely grateful to Hope’s Crossing for the time and effort to help me in my life to be a better person. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this awesome program
